Today was full day in Serengeti National Park. We saw animals ranging in size from a dikdik (think miniature poodle) to elephants. My photo count was something over 300. Animals seen included Vervet Monkey, Buffalo, Jackel , Toppi (Blue Jinx), Olive Baboon, Hyena, Leopard, Impalas, Lion, Elephant, Zebra, Hippopotamus, Warthog, Giraffe, Grant’s Gazelle, Thomson’s Gazelle, Waterbuck, Wildebeest and Impala. Various birds including Ostrich, Marabou Stork, Kori Bustard, and Eagle plus a few Crocodiles. Great day of viewing.
The leopard created quite a traffic jam, they aren’t seen that often so when they are they draw a crowd. It walked through the grass for a while, then posed on a dead tree.
We had left the lodge at about 8:00, drove until a picnic lunch at 1:00 and then drove for another couple of hours. We had a short afternoon rain shower, apparently the animals like that because it washes the bugs and dust off their skin.
