I arrived by train from Berlin Sunday afternoon. Monday I went on 2 walking tours. First I went to Old Warsaw, second I went on the Jewish Tour. In 1939, when WW II began in Europe, Warsaw had about 360,000 Jewish citizens which was one-third of the population. They have been in Warsaw since at least the 1400’s.
For the Jewish Tour you see mostly monuments and other commemoratives as the Ghetto was destroyed by the Nazi’s after the Uprising in the Jewish Ghetto (1943). The ghetto occupied about 20-25% of the city’s land area for one-third of the population, it was crowded.
Also did some shopping, prices seemed rather good.
